California Women Artists

This digital exhibit highlights women artists of California. California was considered a haven for people to move to after the Gold Rush was discovered. It was a land full of opportunity and it made room for many art movements over the years. While it is not comparable to New York's modern art scene in the 19th-20th century, California developed its own unique approach in art history whether it was being influenced by many art movements from Europe that became a main source of inspiration or as a result of important historical moments artists reacted to.

This exhibit is to bring mention to many notable women who were part of California's art scene that emerged from various historical points in time.
